The installation, Hy-Fi, was designed and created by The Living, an architectural design studio based in New York. Commissioned by the MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program, the cluster of circular towers over 12 m tall was formed using 10,000 bricks. The use of the still rare composite based on mycelium is a perfect illustration of a “circular materials & building components” approach. After three months of cultural events, the structure was disassembled, and the bricks decomposed to compost.
